Celebrating a Milestone Year of Community Music-Making
2026 marks a very special moment for FCSS: a milestone year honoring decades of making music together in community. For 50 years, musicians of all backgrounds and stages of life have gathered to rehearse, perform, learn, laugh, and create something larger than themselves. That spirit of connection is what has always defined us, and it’s what we’re excited to celebrate.
*****Save the date for our 50th Anniversary Fundraiser Concert on June 9, 2026.*****
We’ll be sharing more details as the event approaches, and we can’t wait to gather with friends, families, alumni, and supporters for an evening that reflects the heart of FCSS.
As we prepare for this special concert, we would love the help of past and present FCSS members to bring it to life. Whether you’re interested in behind-the-scenes planning, event-day support, outreach, or creative ideas, your involvement would mean so much. Please reach out to us for more information — it truly takes a community to celebrate a community orchestra.
We’d also love to hear from you:
Is there a piece we’ve performed over the years that holds a special memory for you?
Does a particular era of FCSS stand out?
Do you have a word of remembrance or reflection you’d like us to include in our anniversary concert program?
Your stories are part of our history, and we would be honored to share them.
Finally, if you are a local business interested in sponsoring this milestone celebration, we would love to connect. Sponsorship helps sustain our mission and ensures that community music-making continues for the next 50 years.
Please send us an email — let’s make this a truly special occasion together.
Here’s to 50 years of music, and many more to come!
FCSS Teams Up with the Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra
FCSS members stepped out of their classical comfort zones and into the world of video game music, joining forces with the Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra for a lively and collaborative rehearsal. Check out a video clip here!
Held at the American Legion Post in Norwalk, the night was full of new faces, upbeat energy, and music that was as fun to play as it was to hear. From sweeping fantasy themes to rhythmic battle beats, the experience was both refreshing and inspiring. We’re so grateful to NGSO for their warm welcome, and to our own members for showing up with open minds!
This is what community music is all about: connecting, exploring, and growing—together.
FCSS Participates in Make Music Day
On Saturday, June 21, FCSS had the joy of participating in Make Music Day at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT!
We performed outdoors on a shady porch, sharing a dynamic blend of musical theater, classical, and cinematic favorites—including selections from The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof, The Phantom of the Opera, Game of Thrones, The Greatest Showman, and Telemann’s Don Quixote Suite. Thank you to everyone who played, supported, and made the day such a success!
Can you name this tune?
